Maya
Copador Bowl
(monkey bowl)
This wonderful Maya Monkey Bowl from El Salvador dates to the end of the classic period ca. 500 A.D. Vividly painted, these bowls are becoming increasingly rare and difficult to attain. The Monkey Bowl is referred to as such because of the playful monkeys shown at the base and almost always portrayed in a grouping of three. All three monkeys are each playing with a large red ball surrounded by a Glyph band about the top rim. In impeccable condition with some minor surface ware in some areas, none of which affects the monkeys.
