Apulian Pyxis
This Pyxis is decorated in the customary style featuring two "ladies of fashion". Each female head is adorned with a stephane and saccos. Two palmettes complete separate the two figures and black stokes adorn the top of the handle. The base of the pyxis has been left undecorated and features a high pedestal foot. The base has been misfired in antiquity resulting in an uneven reddish brown colour. The based has a clean break that has been repaired (as seen in photo). Height 4 inches Diameter 3.7 inches
