Ancient Ban Chiang Vessel
Red on buff globular vessel that originates from Northeastern Thailand, Ban Chiang and dates to approximately 3000 B.C. This vessel is in a remarkable state of preservation and has never been cleaned. There is still much of the red pigment surrounding the vessel. This vessel tilts to one side although wonderfully intact. Still has significant incrustation on the inside and outside of the vessel. This piece is dated to roughly the Early Period because of the shape; low footed with flaring rim.
